h o u s e c a l l s { fall 2016 } 45 specials board Apple Oatmeal Cookies (Makes 2 dozen) 1 cup whole wheat flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. kosher salt 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 cup rolled oats 1 small apple, peeled, cored, and grated (McIntosh, Jonagold, or Granny Smith) Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix the first five ingredients together in a medium-sized bowl and set aside. In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, applesauce, egg, and vanilla. Slowly add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in oats and apple. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto greased cookie sheets. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until edges are slightly browned. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool.
