Roper St. Francis Healthcare, with assistance from the Charleston School of Law, is offering patients and their spouses a free legal clinic. Attorneys will explain and assist you if you choose to execute: Health Care Powers of Attorney and Living Wills. Clinics are ongoing and held at either Roper Hospital or the Roper St. Francis Cancer Center on the Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital Campus. If you are on Medicare, keep an eye on your mailbox: New cards—sans Social Security numbers—are being issued and delivered via mail between April 2018 and April 2019. With it, you will receive a new Medicare Number to be used for your Medicare coverage. The card will not change your coverage or benefits; additional information will be provided with the new card. To prepare, you can: Ensure your mailing address is up to date. If you have moved, contact Social Security at ssa.gov/myaccount or 1-800-772-1213 (TTY users, call 1-800-325-0778). Know that Medicare nor Social Security will ask for personal or private information to issue a new card. (Beware of anyone who contacts you for such information.) Have patience!
